Our newest addition to our ever-growing team, Ruby, hit the ground running, and with her continuous amazing work, we see no slowing down from her anytime soon! Other than her amazing graphic design skills, she is an extremely lively and positive individual. We can’t wait to see how she keeps growing! Get to know her a bit more by reading the interview below.

Tell us a little bit about your work experience so far?

My most recent experience was at Crown Group which is one of Australia’s premier property developers, with projects across the globe. There I worked directly with their Creative Director where I created marketing collateral across digital and print for events that would promote their projects across 700 internal agents. Also in July last year, I had an internship at Hello Social, where I was exposed to how they built the social strategy of their big organisation clients such as RSPCA, My Muscle Chef, Paramount Pictures and many more. There I worked with their full creative team designing marketing assets across digital and web. Also some other ways I stay proactive as a designer is by continuing to work freelance with clients and by volunteering as a content creator at my current church.

What is your favourite thing about the art of graphic design?

I love being able to still integrate my own flavour into the designs I create. Along the way as a graphic designer, I’ve learnt to love bringing a brand identity to life through things like typography, illustration, colour and how it can provoke thought and emotions. To communicate a message through art is one of the greatest things you can do.

What have been your favourite things about working at Hello Molly so far?

From my short time being at Hello Molly, I love how everyone in the office is driven by their own passions and how much energy and creativity they bring to the table. I’m delighted to work with such a bunch of warm and kind souls.

How do you stay creative?

My aim is to never put the pencil down and keep my skills alive, so some ways I stay creative is by continuing to expose myself and stay up to date with existing design agencies and platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, etc. Seeing how design styles can change through time and through different perceptions of each designer, is the best inspiration!

What tips do you have for someone trying to land a job as a graphic designer?

Get yourself out there! Keep creating and posting your work! Apply for as many internships as possible until you get the experience you need for the role you want.
